The Magic of Curd During Summers – “LASSI”

Lassi is a popular traditional dahi-based drink that originated in the India.

Lassi is said to be quite beneficial for our digestive system. It is light on the stomach and contains lactobacilli, healthy bacteria that lubricate the intestines and aid in smooth digestion.

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh curd,

3 tbsp sugar, (preferably powdered)

Β½ Cup of cold water

Β½ tsp cardamom powder

1 tbsp fresh cream

few dry fruits (almonds, cashews chopped)

Method:

  1. Take 2 cups of fresh curd in a large jug, whisk till the curd turns smooth.
  2. Add cold water to adjust the consistency.
  3. Add 3 tbsp of sugar, then add cardamom powder.
  4. Whisk again till it become more smooth. Add fresh cream to make it rich in taste. And give a good stir.
  5. Garnish with few chopped dry fruits of your choice.

Finally serve chilled by adding ice cubes.

HEALTHY TIP: Lassi is basically made of curd , which is good for the body . It cools the body down , improves digestion , and supplies a number of useful bacteria .

But as per Ayurveda , night time is a cooling time , so any food that is cooling should not be consumed at night as that would mean excess of coolness in the body .
